Now Building Energy Star Homes!

December 13, 2023

Big news for our community homes! All of our neighborhoods (excluding non-gas neighborhoods) will now be adhering to Energy Star requirements. Energy star homes are built using tried-and-true best building practices that incorporates energy efficiency, which will help homeowners save money. This means a ton of benefits for our homeowners! From reducing utility bills to contributing to a healthier environment, here's why Energy Star homes are a smart investment:

  • Energy Efficiency: One of the primary advantages of an Energy Star home is its superior energy efficiency. These homes are equipped with high-performance insulation, windows, and heating/cooling systems that significantly reduce energy consumption. Homeowners can enjoy a more comfortable living space while using less energy, leading to lower utility bills. Energy-efficient appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and HVAC systems, further contribute to reduced energy usage, benefiting both the environment and the homeowner's wallet.

  • Cost Savings: Investing in an Energy Star home translates into long-term cost savings. Lower energy bills are a significant financial perk for homeowners. With efficient appliances and building materials, these homes consume less energy, thereby reducing monthly utility expenses. Over time, these savings can add up substantially, offsetting the initial investment required for an Energy Star-certified property.

  • Improved Comfort: Energy Star homes prioritize indoor comfort. High-quality insulation, advanced windows, and airtight construction help maintain consistent temperatures throughout the house. This means fewer drafts, more even heating and cooling, and better humidity control. Homeowners can enjoy a more comfortable living environment year-round, regardless of the outside weather conditions. (This is such a plus for our unpredictable Louisiana weather!)

  • Health Benefits: The design and construction standards of Energy Star homes also contribute to improved indoor air quality. These homes often feature advanced ventilation systems that enhance air circulation, reducing indoor pollutants, and allergens.

  • Environmental Impact: By significantly reducing energy consumption, Energy Star homes play a crucial role in mitigating environmental impact. Lower energy usage means fewer greenhouse gas emissions, helping combat climate change. Moreover, the use of sustainable building materials and eco-friendly practices during construction minimizes the home's overall carbon footprint.

Energy Star homes offer a multitude of benefits for homeowners. Beyond the immediate cost savings on utility bills, these homes provide increased comfort, contribute to a healthier living environment, and play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions.

We are excited to add new Energy Star homes to our communities in 2024.
